On the 10th & 11th of December students from St Philip’s Christian College – Newcastle (SPCC), supported by the ME Program, represented the Hunter region at the 2019 National SUBS in Schools Final held in Adelaide.
In the first time a Hunter region school had entered and participated in the National competition, SPCC students designed, engineered and manufactured a Remote Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV).
Team Nova, consisting of 5 SPCC STEM students, came 2nd overall in the Submarine Class of the competition. This is a huge achievement for the students in their first SUBS in Schools competition.
SPCC students worked closely with local engineers from BlueZone Group to construct their sub, along with a full-sized Trade Display, Engineering and Marketing Portfolios.
The ME Program would like to say a huge thank you to the support of the competition from BlueZone Group and a big congratulations to the students on all their hard work and success in the competition.
