The 2020 STEM Defence + Innovation Program kicked off last week with a cohort of 14 Hunter region high school students. The Program was developed by RDA Hunter and delivered in partnership with The Business Centre for Hunter students to participate in a ‘real-life’ innovation and entrepreneurship program.
The 14 students from St Philips Christian College Waratah, Newcastle Grammar School and Hunter River High School kicked off the commercialisation program last Friday and Saturday with 2 x 3-hour virtual workshops with The Business Centre facilitators, Lena Vestad Hansen and Martin Mckenzie.
The topics covered over the two sessions included:
- Products failure & Road to market
- Ethical dilemmas
- Innovation methodologies
- Understanding the customer and their needs
- Value Proposition Design
The students will continue their development through the program participating in virtual workshops with The Business Centre and an Airforce Experience with personnel from RAAF Base WLM with the project culminating in a pitch night in front of family, friends and Hunter industry leaders at the end of July.
We are looking forward to seeing the development of the students throughout the 2020 STEM Defence + Innovation Program!
