Name: Matthew Lovegrove
Subjects studied at school (Year 12) : English (Advanced), Physics, IPT, Maths (ext 1 and ext 2)
Currently Studying: Bachelor of Mathematics/Bachelor of Secondary Education at University of Newcastle
Why I chose this degree: Matt had always enjoyed Maths and liked the idea of teaching, so he combined the two to become a Maths Teacher.
Future Plans: To teach within the Hunter for 2-3 years, then move inland to more remote areas.
My involvement in the ME Program: Matt spent a number of days visiting manufacturing industries such as Forgacs, Varley and Custom Fluidpower. These industries build boats and manufacture of specialised vehicles and hydraulic solutions.Whilst there Matt and Prue observed how companies still use Maths, specifically school level maths and then create plans, assessments etc that can be used in school classrooms. Matt wants to be able to show students the relevance of Maths and how it is used everywhere and not just in the classroom.
