The teachers, judges, industry supporters and sponsors who were in attendance of this event were highly complementary of all the students’ efforts. The 2012 competition was the largest, most highly competitive and the most successful yet.
Industry interaction and sponsorship is an essential component of this competition and in 2012 the following organisations have supported the event, The ME program, Australian Government Department of Defence Materiel Organisation, The Bloomfield Group, Thales Group, Custom Fluid Power, Ampcontrol, Thiess, New South Wales Business Council, The University of Newcastle, Hunter Youth Express and Marciano Industries. In addition many teams had sponsors and supporters from throughout the business community.
The University of Newcastle SAE racing team must be congratulated for their efforts this year. Not only did they work with students prior to the event, they were on hand during the day to discuss the Mechanical Engineering pathways open to students at the University. Further support for the program will be provided later this year when training will be provided to teachers for future competitions.
Next year the Newcastle/Hunter Regional F1inSchool’s competition will be bigger and better, with more schools and industry partner involved in this outstanding competition.
