The Hunter region was well represented and successful at the recent 2019 F1 in Schools World Finals held in Abu Dhabi with four students from Mount View High School joining students from Penrith Christian College to place fifth overall in the competition.
Year 11 students Ben Galvin, Tobias Astill-King, Fei Fei Webster and Harley Patterson teamed up with Penrith Christian College’s Imogen Rogers, Paige Foley, Brock Stinson, Caleb Kraus and Alex Weeks to form team Ascension, after their teams placed second and third at the Australian finals in March earlier this year.
Team Ascension took out the coveted Best Engineered Car award and was runner-up for the Scrutineering award. Best Engineered Car is considered one of the three big prizes of the competition, along with Best Innovation and Fastest Car.
Placing fifth overall in the world out of 55 teams entered in the competition is a huge achievement for the team and students.
The ME Program would like to say a huge congratulations to Ben, Tobias, Fei Fei and Harley as well as Mount View HS F1 in Schools Coordinator, Mark Bassett for their achievements in the F1 in Schools competition.
