WAI Australia is holding its second biennial conference to promote, engage and inspire the next generation to consider a career in aviation and aerospace industries.
The National Conference will be held at the Mercure Hunter Valley Gardens Resort in New South Wales, on Friday 28th – Sunday 30th of September 2018.
The conference will have a key focus on engineering (aviation and aerospace) and technical trades (logistics, avionics and aircraft technicians), as well as providing speakers and workshops on various other fields in the industry such as RPAS (Drone) technologies, flying training (airplane and helicopter) and aviation management (air traffic control, airports and airlines).
The aim of the National Conference is to provide attendees with information and resources from various facets of the industry, and more importantly provide an interactive environment for attendees to connect and network with leaders from within the aviation and aerospace industry and Defence Force Recruiting.
Representatives from major international organisations and the Department of Defence will be present to offer advice and support for those pursuing employment within the industry.
The diverse list of speakers will share their experiences getting into the industry, working within and the power of networking, and the importance of STEM. We will also have concurrently streamed workshops to then focus on each industry sector with participants being able to collaborate and interact with speakers.
Event organiser: WOMEN IN AVIATION, INTERNATIONAL (WAI) AUSTRALIAN CHAPTER
WAI Australia is a chapter of the internationally recognised organisation, Women in Aviation International (WAI). The Australian Chapter was established in 2015 to provide a national platform that represents all facets of the aviation and aerospace industry, and to engage and inspire the next generation of aerospace leaders. WAI is dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation and aerospace career fields and interests. Our diverse membership includes aerospace engineers, astronauts, fixed and rotary pilots, maintenance technicians, air traffic controllers, business owners, educators, journalists, flight attendants, high school and university students, air show performers, airport and airline managers and policy makers. We provide year-round resources to assist women in aviation and to encourage young women to consider aviation and aerospace as a career. WAI also offers educational outreach programs to educators, aviation industry members, and young people nationally and internationally. Our most recent initiative is our Girls in Aviation Day program for girls ages 8 to 17.
