Last night the first cohort of STEM scholarship (STEM-Ship) holders attended an information evening and enrollment session at Hunter TAFE. The STEM-Ship is an initiative of RDA Hunter’s ME Program, Training Services NSW and Hunter TAFE. It is a fee-free program for students that will produce graduates that will be more adaptable to the Jobs of Tomorrow.
Scholarship holders undertake a 15 week integrated STEM program at Hunter TAFE with work placements organised with some of the Hunter’s most innovative STEM orientated industries. This program is an Australian first and links talented students with an interest in STEM related employment with like-minded industries.
The 25 hours per week training attempts to develop a range of technical and non-technical skills by students utilising hands on project based approaches to learning. The students will work in teams to produce an autonomous vehicle as their final project.
